Ans: Before power can be installed on your property it must be ascertained that you have permission from the Ministry of Planning to construct on the said property.

Ans: You need to submit your "Application for Service" form so that the Planning Department can produce an estimate. Please be advised all estimates must be paid in full before work can commence.
Ques: What happens if my meter is inaccessible?
Ans: You will be written by our Customer Service Office requesting you to make arrangements to transfer your meter to the boundary. In that letter, you will be given three months to complete the changes failure to do so will result in your supply being disconnected.
Ques: Who pays for me to transfer my meter to the boundary?
Ans: The customer is responsible for all costs relating to transferring the meter to the boundary.
Ques: What is the Fuel Surcharge?
Ans: This is a mechanism designed to recover the cost of fossil fuel oils used in the generation of electricity. The base tariff which established the current energy charges appearing on your electricity bill includes $2.43 EC$/Imperial gallon (IG) for the cost of fuel used by NEVLEC in the generating power and energy. With fuel prices reaching $7.64 EC$/IG in recent times, only a portion of the actual fuel cost is covered by the existing tariff. The remainder is collected via the Fuel Cost Adjustment Factor. Ques: Is the Fuel Cost Adjustment Factor/ Fuel Surcharge a percentage?
Ans: No it is not. It is calculated to some dollar value each month. This amount is then multiplied by the total units consumed by a customer.
Ques: Who monitors the Fuel Cost Adjustment Factor/ Fuel Surcharge?
Ans: The Nevis Island Administration is responsible for approving and monitoring the electricity tariff (rates) NEVLEC charges customers. This includes checking the calculations of the Fuel Cost Adjustment Factor.
Ques: What do I do if I suspect that my meter is faulty?
Ans: Kindly complete and submit the complaint form. An investigation crew will be dispatched and your meter will be tested. If your meter is indeed faulty it will be replaced. A report on the findings will be submitted to you.
