Interactive Nevis Geothermal Wells Drilling Project consultations sensitizes public

On Thursday November 17th and Friday November 18th, 2022, The Nevis Island Administration (NIA) and The Nevis Electricity Company Ltd. (NEVLEC) hosted Public Consultations in an effort to sensitize the general public on the Nevis Geothermal Wells Drilling Project.

Thursday’s session was held at the St. Paul’s Anglican Church and targeted persons residing in close proximity to the drilling site at Hamilton Estate. Friday’s session was held at the Nevis Performing Arts Centre (NEPAC) and targeted the General Public as additional information was shared such as the planting of a 66 kV underground Transmission Line. This endeavor was critical to ensure that our valued customers are informed and that their concerns are heard. As we continue to work steadfastly to make Renewable Energy more prevalent in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, we hope to foster great relationships with the public through avenues such as these consultations.

Thank you to consultants, Dr. Ricardo Calvo and Gabriela Morales of Environment Resources Management (ERM), for imparting their knowledge and experience to those present. Special thanks also to the experts from Geothermex and Dr. Ryan from the UWI Seismic Centre for joining the consultations remotely. Thank you to everyone who was present; physically and virtually. The sessions were very interactive.

NEVLEC continues to partner with you, our valued customers as collectively we are “Working Towards A Brighter Future”.
