Quick Facts The Nevis Electricity Company Limited is the sole provider of electricity on the island of Nevis. Home Nevlec was established in September 2000. Nevlec is the sole provider of electricity in Nevis. First Chairman on THE NEVLEC board of directors was Mr. Earl Kelly. The first managers of NEVLEC were Mr. Russel Tyson (General Manager), Mr. Lindolph Murray (Generation Manager) Mr. Cartwright Farrell (Transmission & Distribution Manager) and Ms. Maureen Webbe (Customer Service Manager). Nevlec\u2019s mission statement is \u201cto be the first-class electric utility company providing quality, reliable and cost-effective service for the social and economic development and well being of the residents and people of Nevis\u201d. Nevlec\u2019s motto is Working Towards A Brighter Future Nevlec is divided into five departments: Customer Service, Finance and Administration, Generation, Transmission and Distribution and Panning. The logo was designed by Ms. Michelle Lawrence, former student of the St Thomas\u2019 Primary School. The Power Station is located at Prospect Industrial Site and was built in 1983. The first Wartsila Engine was commissioned in 2002. In 2005, a new Billing and Accounting Systems was introduced. Nevlec was awarded the HTA Nevis Award for Utility of the Year Award in 2010. A new 3.85 MW Wartsila Generator was commissioned in 2017. Generators 5 & 6 (Mirrlees Blackstone) are the two oldest generators in operation. In 2005, a new Billing and Accounting System was introduced. The current General Manager of NEVLEC is Mr. Albert Gordon. The three newest generators are Engines 8, 11 & 12. The current chairman is Mr. Stedmond Tross. The newest 3.85 MW Wartsila Generator was commissioned in March 2022. Mr. Erim Herbert is the first recipient of the Cedric A. Armbrister Scholarship. Mr. Jonathan Kelly was the first recipient of a Nevlec Scholarship. The peak capacity at the Power Station is 9.83 MW while the generating capacity is 25.3 MW Nevlec currently has 90 employees which comprises of 25 females and 65 males.
