He emphasized the importance of renewable energy to the national economy, affirmed that NEVLEC is prepared to be an integral part of the roadmap, and highlighted the company’s promising geothermal project. Stapleton reiterated that resilience is the core of this roadmap, underscoring the Federation’s commitment to building a sustainable energy future.

Stakeholders then presented national energy targets, policy priorities, and current projects. NEVLEC was represented by Project Coordinator, Mr. Naftalie Errar, who outlined the company’s geothermal development and related initiatives. This presentation highlighted NEVLEC’s role in advancing renewable energy on Nevis and its contribution to the Federation’s overall energy transition. The day concluded with a moderated discussion on project interdependencies and key challenges.

On Day 2, the focus shifted to technical issues. Mr. Stapleton joined SKELEC officials to deliver a technical overview of the electricity system, including infrastructure status, planned upgrades, and grid challenges. This session emphasized the importance of grid stability and integration of diverse renewable sources. NEVLEC’s input was central to discussions on how geothermal energy could complement solar and wind projects while ensuring reliability.

The workshop closed with an agreement on next steps: defining the roadmap process, establishing governance mechanisms, and clarifying stakeholder roles.
