{"id":6326,"date":"2026-08-09T14:29:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-09T14:29:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nevlec.com\/?p=6326"},"modified":"2026-08-11T01:53:53","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T01:53:53","slug":"public-notice-scheduled-48000-hour-major-overhaul-genset-no-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nevlec.com\/es\/public-notice-scheduled-48000-hour-major-overhaul-genset-no-8\/","title":{"rendered":"PUBLIC NOTICE: Scheduled 48,000-Hour Major Overhaul \u2013 Genset No. 8"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nevis Electricity Company Limited (NEVLEC) wishes to advise customers and the general public that Genset No. 8 at the Prospect Power Station will be taken out of service from Sunday, 9th August 2026, through Wednesday, 2nd September 2026, to facilitate its scheduled 48,000-hour major overhaul.<\/p>\n<p>The overhaul forms part of NEVLEC\u2019s planned maintenance programme and is necessary to ensure the continued reliability, efficiency and safe operation of the generating unit.<\/p>\n<p>The works will be undertaken jointly by NEVLEC\u2019s technical team and specialist technicians from W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4, who are on Nevis to support the major overhaul.<\/p>\n<p>An important component of the exercise will also be capacity building and knowledge transfer. NEVLEC\u2019s technical personnel will work closely alongside the W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 specialists throughout the overhaul, providing valuable hands-on exposure to major maintenance procedures, inspections, component replacement, testing and other technical aspects of the generating unit. This will further strengthen the internal technical capacity of NEVLEC\u2019s Generation Department.<\/p>\n<p>During the overhaul period, NEVLEC will utilize its other available generating units and operational arrangements to maintain electricity supply. However, with Genset No. 8 unavailable, the electricity system will operate with reduced generation reserve capacity.<\/p>\n<p>While every effort will be made to maintain a continuous and reliable electricity supply, customers are advised that should an unforeseen issue arise with another generating unit during the overhaul period, temporary interruptions or load management may become necessary.<\/p>\n<p>NEVLEC\u2019s technical team, working in collaboration with the W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 specialists, will make every effort to complete the overhaul within the scheduled timeframe.
