The World Academy of Safety and Health (WASH) conducted a vital CPR and First-Aid training session for NEVLEC’s Generation and Transmission & Distribution staff. This training was held at the Nevis Disaster Management facility, Long Point, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

NEVLEC’s staff benefitted from the knowledge of seasoned instructors Mr. David Smart and Mr. Sherwin Julius from WASH. WASH is internationally recognized for its comprehensive safety programs, including specialized training in water rescue. The instructors focused on equipping participants with lifesaving skills in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), as well as the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) and essential First Aid techniques. Theory and practical sessions were used to administer training. This combination ensured that participants not only understood the science and principles behind CPR, AED use, and First Aid, but also gained hands-on experience in applying these lifesaving techniques. This is critical because immediate action can make the difference between life and death.

All participants completed the CPR & First-Aid training and will receive their official certification. This initiative emphasizes NEVLEC’s commitment to staff safety and preparedness. Learning CPR and other emergency-related response skills allows our employees to be better positioned to protect themselves and to assist others during times of crisis.
