On Thursday, March 19th, 2026, the Charlestown Secondary School hosted its 21st Annual Job Preparation Workshop under the theme “Opportunities favored the Prepared.”

The event, held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., equipped students with vital skills for the world of work — including résumé writing, interview preparation, workplace readiness, budgeting, and financial responsibility. Hands-on sessions in photography and hairdressing added deeper dimensions to the day’s program.

Representing the Nevis Electricity Company Ltd. (NEVLEC), Mrs. Roma Hanley-Merchant, General Manager (Ag.), delivered inspiring remarks. She emphasized that readiness goes beyond grades — it’s also about developing practical skills and understanding how to present yourself.

“Be curious. Be confident. Participate fully. The skills you gain today will stay with you long after you leave this room,” Mrs. Hanley-Merchant encouraged.
