NEVLEC Empowers Next Generation of Energy Professionals through Dual 2026 Summer Internship Initiatives

The Nevis Electricity Company Limited (NEVLEC) is proud to announce the intake of five (5) summer interns for the period of July 6–31, 2026. This year, NEVLEC’s intake is driven by a dual-track approach: our ongoing partnership with the Department of Youth’s Summer Job Attachment Program (SJAP), alongside NEVLEC’s own direct school outreach initiative.

Department of Youth – Summer Job Attachment Program (SJAP)

Once again, NEVLEC has partnered with the Department of Youth–Nevis to provide real-world experience to promising young people. Three (3) students have been placed within critical operational hubs this year:

  • Mr. Jamari Pluck — Generation Department
  • Ms. Teniqua Coleman — Generation Department
  • Ms. Callia Hobson — Customer Service Department

NEVLEC Technical Early Talent Initiative (Direct Selection)

In line with NEVLEC’s strategic plan to foster early local talent and build robust technical capacity from the school level up, the company has directly onboarded two exceptional female students:

  • Ms. La-Taivia Powell
  • Ms. Nailah Taylor

These students were identified during a recent educational school visit to our Generation Plant, where they demonstrated a keen interest in engineering and utility operations. To maximize their exposure to the technical backbone of the island’s utility, their comprehensive internship will see them rotating and liaising across three core engineering departments: Generation, Transmission & Distribution (T&D), and Planning.

NEVLEC is pleased to host all five interns and expresses absolute confidence that their time spent with our professionals will be both meaningful and impactful. By equipping these students with practical, hands-on technical skills, NEVLEC continues to bridge the gap between education and the professional world.

This multi-faceted approach underscores NEVLEC’s unwavering dedication to corporate social responsibility, youth empowerment, and workforce development ensuring the next generation is fully equipped to power the future growth and technical progress of Nevis.
