SKN represented at “Demystifying Geothermal Energy” workshop

Under the theme “Demystifying Geothermal Energy” a workshop was held at the Grenada Trade Center annex from November 15th – 17th, 2023. The workshop aimed to develop the capacity building in communication and media throughout the OECS and was very enlightening and informative. Representation was seen from member states of the OECS who participated in the 3-day workshop.

In attendance were participants from Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Each participating member states gave brief presentations. Mrs. Curleane Liburd and Ms. Tiffany Hodge were the representatives of St. Kitts and Nevis and were able to give an update on the geothermal development in St Kitts and Nevis. Also presenting were Dr Ernie Stapleton, Ms. Bernice Joseph, Mr. Lance Peters, Ms. Loverly Anthony and Ms. Judith Smith.

The workshop was conceptualized to address a prevalent need for participants to have training in communicating messages related to geothermal energy. Additionally, the main objective of this workshop was to promote communication within the community of member states of the Geo-Build Program. The main takeaways from the workshop were the need to have more attention directed to geothermal energy and a better understanding of the opportunities/benefits that can derived from geothermal as it relates to electricity facilitated by the Geo-Build Project.
